Area 33 - Sunday Lunch May 25th – Rivenhall Oaks Golf Club

Welcome is the title picture and it certainly was a warm welcome from our host and Area 33 member Harry Stevenson to the Rivenhall Oaks Golf Club.
The weather forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend was disastrous, with weather warnings for Sunday and Monday it was unlikely that anyone would turn out for a Sunday lunch run. So, despite heavy rain and high winds, 22 hungry travellers arrived for this, our second visit following last year’s success, to Harry’s place.

However, it must be said that only one Jaguar with Eric & Linda, was parked up on the reserved lawn and as can be seen, the other tin tops had to park facing away in respect!

How can one doubt Jaguar reliability; how can ardent Jaguar fans drive another vehicle on this auspicious day; how can one live the rest of the week not having Jaguar-ised the weekend; how can………. ……….Oh OK then; yes leaky door seals; leaky soft-tops; wet electrics; variable anti-corrosion treatments; because I’ve just polished it; saving for the holiday trip; etc etc, all I guess semi plausible reasons for leaving the P&J in the garage! Not so for XKR though – just power on through!
There were no such indecisions on the lunch menu as we all tucked in to Roast Beef; Chicken; Pork and Lamb Shank all accompanied by oodles of nicely cooked vegetables and roast potatoes with seconds aplenty.
Pud’s followed with Fresh fruit, Meringue and Ice Cream; Apple pie or Treacle tart, both with lashings of custard.

Replete from lunch we ordered coffee whilst watching Lewis Hamilton on the club room television achieve his first win of the season at Monaco; a fitting finale to an excellent value lunch. Thanks Harry!

Finally just a picture of a single Jaguar outside Rivenhall Golf Club House; more Jaguars next time guys!
