Area 33 Sunday Lunch – March 27th – Rivenhall Oaks Golf Club

Despite the weather forecast for “6 deg lower” Sunday Lunch at Harry’s Place attracted fourteen Area 33 members with their Jaguars.

But then again, Harry’s Place is such a steal, with good food at a good price and he’s an Area 33 Member as well.

Mike & Sue, Ron & Anita, Dennis & Francis, Terry & Trish, Tony & Sian, Tina & Bernie and Eric & Linda displayed their Pride and Joy on the green outside Harry’s lodge; a varied array of Jaguar products from 1964 through to 2007!

Parking was reserved on the VIP area overlooking one of the greens and we spent some time reviewing and discussing cars before reading the menu.

Comparisons of luggage space in the Etype versus new XK convertibles confirmed that it’s easier to please the wife in the new XK with the ability to pack “all the holiday clothes you want dear!” (This assuming you maximise the suitcase size to fit the boot space – in Eric & Linda’s case (sorry no pun intended) it meant buying new ones specifically for the purpose!)

Ron & Anita surprised us all with yet another car swop! This time the Celica went in exchange for a very nice Jaguar S type in Metallic blue; spotless inside and with a 2.5V6 engine; this is Anita’s car of course!

Lunch provided a selection of roasts including a popular Lamb shank and of course desserts. Again, Harry had no profiteroles for Ron but in true tradition, Ron was able to enjoy two desserts again as Francis couldn’t finish the enormous dish of mixed ice cream so Ron was on hand to provide a helping hand. What a nice man!

The drive home required a little prior decision making; top up or top down for Terry & Eric; the conclusion was top up for one at least! “Ne’er cast a clout ‘til May is out” remember.

NB. No Sunday lunch in April as its Easter

See you next time.
