Area 33 – Sunday Lunch – Feb 21st – Graham’s on the Green, Writtle |
| You all missed
an excellent meal! That was the conclusion from the ten JDC Area 33 members who kicked off the Club’s First Sunday Lunch of 2010. Despite a chilly, wet February day, Terry & Trish, Reg & Ronnie, Tony & Sian, Tina & Bernie and Eric & Linda ventured forth to “Graham’s on the Green”; the newer XK’s came with their owners but others took to the everyday hack. “Graham’s” was absolutely full and fortunately our table was in the middle affording a warm welcome and attentive staff. |

Bernie only wanted a “cup of tea & a bun” but fortunately Tina ordered white wine for the rest of us as we sat sampling the menu. Most of us plumped for Tempura Tiger prawns with a Chilli sauce which were excellent, whilst others sampled the Smoked Salmon & Prawn moose or Grahams House salad; a good start. Sunday lunch has to include Rib of Scottish beef (nicely lean this time) or Roast free range Pork Loin, both served with all the trimmings or a Seafood Thermidor or Cod rolled in Curry spices with Onion Bhajee; all plates were cleaned confirming excellent choices and hungry diners! At this point we realised that Tina had been ordering extra bottles of Wine at the same time as Ronnie was ordering extra glasses of Wine; never mind, it made it far more sociable. For those that couldn’t squeeze in a pudding Linda & Tina were on hand to devour that extra White Chocolate Moose and the Plum & Almond Tart AND the Blood Orange Cream Brulee!! Conversations ranged from twin blower XKR’s developing 505HP, MP’s Expenses, Gearbox Oil changes, MP’s double homes, Jaguar Electrics, MP’s & Afghanistan and Motorbikes; we didn’t agree on everything! Coffee finished of a very comfy afternoon at “Graham’s on the Green” followed of course by the bill; enough about that as unlike MP’s we couldn’t claim that! See you next time. Eric Hoile |
